In 1996 we introduced the possibility for monks over the age of 18, not eligible any longer to attend classes at the monastic School, to learn English and Tibetan. The newcomers from Tibet can learn here Tibetan because in Tibet this is often not possible.

Furthermore exists the possibility to learn English in order to communicate with multi-lingual India.

The chance to learn how to read and write Tibetan is put into good use by many monks. The 90 minutes lunch break is used to participate English classes. Occasionally there are some volunteers coming from England or abroad who teach from morning to evening. The few teachers available are not sufficient to accommodate all students eager to learn English.

For the language school we also sponsored teachers, books and materials.
