Besides our projects in India we have until recently supported a pre-school in Gyalthang / Shangrila, Province of Yunnan / China. About 65 children between the age of 4 to 7 attended the pre-school,  in order to give them preparation time before entering primary school. Tibetan children from the densely populated rural regions received here elementary basic knowledge in Tibetan and Chinese language, avoiding discrimination against children living in the city. The parents brought their children at 8.30 am. from far away farms or villages and picked them again at 5 pm. Four qualified Tibetan female nursery teachers took care of these young Tibetans from Monday through Friday.

In the meantime we had to stop the project, as the Chinese school-authority took the per-school complety over. This means that the original project initiator has no more influence. Any external support is prohibited.

We still hope that the pre-school will continue and support the Tibetan families and their children also in the future.
